FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - A dead dolphin was found on the sand at Folly Beach Sunday evening.

Folly Beach Public Safety responded to the beach area near the 500 block of West Ashley Avenue around 5 p.m.

The dolphin was removed from the beach by officers.

It was located up near the dunes on the beach and it’s unclear at this time how the dolphin got there. A marine mammal stranding technician was then contacted to pick up the dolphin, according to Folly Beach police chief Andrew Gilreath.
