A Lowcountry middle school student is heading to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Lowcountry middle school student is heading to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.

Drew David, an 8th grader at Dubose Middle School, is heading to the capital following his win at the Spellbound regional spelling bee at Charleston Southern University last week.

The national spelling bee begins on May 27 with the preliminaries test.
