JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Firefighters say two adults and five children were inside a Johns Island home when a fire broke out just before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
All made it out of the home on the 1700 block of Hay Road near Main Road and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.
The Charleston Firefighters Association says there were no reported injuries.
A sixth child had already left for school.
St. John’s Fire Marshal Ryan Kunitzer said there was heavy smoke and fire damage inside the home where flames were shooting through the front door.
Charleston, St. Johns, and James Island Fire Departments all responded to the scene along with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
The Red Cross has been notified to help the displaced family.
