Police: Woman charged with DUI after hitting pedestrian in N. Charleston Thursday night

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say a woman has been charged with DUI after hitting a pedestrian in North Charleston on Thursday night.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Michelle Blandon-Sanchez, 26, was driving a BMW on Chateau Avenue when she ran off the road and hit a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk, according to North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor.

Blandon-Sanchez has been charged with felony DUI with great bodily injury. Pryor said she stopped down the road from the collision and walked back to the scene.

The North Charleston police department DUI team investigated the crash and the pedestrian was taken to MUSC for treatment.
