CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Sen. Lindsey Graham is responding to a proposal from a presidential candidate that felons should be allowed to vote while they’re in prison.
Bernie Sanders shared the idea at a town hall Monday night. On Monday, Senator Graham posted his reaction on Twitter strongly objecting it.
He said one of those felons that would be able to vote is Dylann Roof.
“Go tell the people of Charleston that you think this man needs to have a voice about the future of South Carolina. That this man should have a say about who should be the president of the United States. Voting is a privilege. We should all do our best to vote but it is a privilege, and a mass murderer like Dylann Roof should not have a say,” Graham said.
Sanders responded to Grahams tweets saying South Carolina has a higher incarceration rate than any country on the plant.
