CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Teachers around the country get some much needed materials for their students thanks to the Donors Choose website and support from people in their communities.

Teachers post requests for materials and supplies that will enhance learning for their students. The site purchases the items and sends them to the teachers, ensuring that your money is used for the purpose intended.

The response has been tremendous and community members get an "A" for supporting their local classrooms.

Wednesday night at 7:30, you learned about a request from Geoff Sklar at Cane Bay High School. He needed supplies for his students who build robots for competition.

Within two hours of that story airing, you all had gone to the website, and donated the $632 he needed to get those special tools.

And last Wednesday, Abbey Rich at Goodwin Elementary in North Charleston wanted some games and activities for her 4 and 5 year old students, to teach them problem solving skills and to introduce them to STEM education.

Again, you came through, with the $132 she needed, which was matched by a charity to complete the requested amount.

Thanks to all who give for supporting these teachers who are finding creative ways to make learning interesting and fun.
