Deputies arrest Charleston Co. man accused of attacking woman using knife, broom handle

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies have arrested a Charleston County man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office arrested 57-year-old Ross Green and charged him with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

On Thursday morning, deputies responded to a home on Ethel Post Office Road on Yonges Island for an assault.

The victim, a 33-year-old woman, said Green had stabbed her multiple times with a knife and struck her multiple times with a broom handle.

The victim said Green came into the home intoxicated and the two began to have a verbal fight that escalated when Green grabbed a knife and began assaulting her. A report states Green allegedly said that he was going to kill the victim and bury her in the backyard.

Deputies reported that when they located Green they could smell alcohol coming from him and he appeared to be “grossly intoxicated.”

“Green continuously stated that nothing happened and that he was asleep,” deputies said in the incident report."He also stated that he had not seen Walker all day."

Investigators say Green later stated that the victim had come to his home and attempted to put clothes in his house, however he attempted to stop her but there was no altercation.

Deputies said Green had a small cut on his wrist that was consistent with him getting in to some sort of physical altercation.

According to the sheriff’s office, Green’s story changed multiple times during the investigation and he “evaded multiple questions that were being asked.”
