CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating a collision Friday night that sent four people to the hospital in Cainhoy.
The collision happened on SC-41 at the intersection of Halfway Creek Road. Charleston Police reported that a 2009 Honda Sedan was traveling north on SC-41 before it collided with a 2002 Volkswagen Sedan who did not see a stop sign before entering the intersection.
Both of the vehicles were occupied by two individuals. All four were transported to the Medical University of South Carolina following the accident. Three of those individuals remain in the hospital in critical condition including a four-year old.
SC-41 was closed to all traffic for several hours while investigators with the Charleston Police Major Accident Investigation Team gathered evidence and towed the vehicles that were involved in the collision.
This is the second serious-injury collision to take place at this intersection in the last two months and is another reminder of the ongoing “Arrive Alive” campaign and the importance that drivers slow down, pay attention, and always wear a seat belt
