Deputies: Hemingway man charged with attempted murder after domestic dispute; one injured

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Hemingway man is charged with attempted murder after a domestic dispute on Friday morning resulted in one being injured, Williamsburg deputies say.

James Allen Selph Jr.,71, of Hemingway is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and pointing and presenting a weapon at a person.

Deputies responded to a call at 6:26 a.m. in reference to a shooting at a house on Washington Street in the Hemingway area.

When deputies arrive at the scene, they found one person with a gunshot wound in the leg area inside of the home.

Deputies say, Selph shot someone in the leg after a domestic dispute between the two. They also say Selph was following the injured person most of the night but once they crossed paths they began to have an argument.

After Selph shot the victim, he took them to a house located on Washington Street and then fled the area.

The person wounded was transported by EMS to a medical facility to be treated for their injuries.

The investigation is on going.
