Student warns others after scary encounter at Goose Creek high school parking lot

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A high school senior preparing to make a decision about which college to attend was forced to make a different kind of decision.

Belle Dodson is a senior at Goose Creek High School.

She said when she was walking into school from the gym parking lot on Tuesday, she thought it was going to be a regular day.

While she was still in the parking lot, she said a person inside a black car started honking and flashing his lights at her.

According to Dodson, when she slowly approached the car a man propositioned her by saying he would give her a thousand dollars a day if she went with him.

She went on to say that the man told her she would never have to go school or home again. She said she refused, and when she walked away she heard his car door open.

“I kind of stuck to my gut because I knew if I freaked out, something could go wrong,” said Dodson.

She said she notified a teacher and gave a statement to one of her school’s resource officers.

Goose Creek High School’s principal wrote a Facebook post to parents following the incident.

The statement read:

Good afternoon, this is Principal Washington, I wanted to make you aware of a situation that occurred on campus this morning. First, please know that your child is safe.

This morning after first period began, a student was approached by an unknown person on campus in the gym parking lot. This information was reported to administration and immediately shared with law enforcement.

Please know that we are cooperating with law enforcement in this ongoing investigation. Thank you for your continued support of Goose Creek High School.

Dodson also wrote her on Facebook post to warn other students and parents to be careful.
