Six vehicle crash in West Ashley sends two people to the hospital

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A six vehicle crash in West Ashley sent two people to the hospital on Monday evening.

Charleston police officials said it happened at 5:38 p.m. on Glenn McConnell Parkway between Magwood Drive and Charlie Hall Boulevard.

According to police, a driver apparently experienced a medical emergency while traveling on Glenn McConnel towards Bees Ferry Road and came into contact with five other vehicles which were either slowed or stopped in rush-hour traffic.

The driver was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina where he is still being treated at this time.

“One other party was transported to Saint Francis Hospital with minor injuries,” CPD officials said."The northbound section of the roadway was closed for approximately three hours while MAIT completed the investigation and towed the vehicles from the scene."
