Investigators with the Walterboro Police Department are asking for the the public’s help with any information surrounding the murder of a 65-year-old man in 2014.

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators with the Walterboro Police Department are asking for the the public’s help with any information surrounding the murder of a 65-year-old man in 2014.

On Feb. 6, 2014, officers responded to 203 Chaplin Street to investigate a report of shots being fired.

When authorities arrived they found James Mitchell lying in the doorway on the front porch.

A report states Mitchell was found shot in the head and died as a result of his wound

“In past years, investigators have pursued numerous leads in the investigation of this case but have been met with negative results,” WPD officials said. “In the efforts of solving this case and with the hopes of bringing justice to Mr. Mitchell’s family, any help from the public would be greatly appreciated.”
