COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) – One South Carolina representative is onboard with making daylight saving time permanent in the United States.
Congressman Tom Rice’s office confirmed he is co-sponsoring the Sunshine Protection Act, which was introduced back in March by Florida Rep. Vern Buchanan.
According to the legislation, Americans would set their clocks ahead one hour and keep them there, which would give them an extra hour of sunlight.
"The more hours we have, the more productive we are," Rep. Rice said. "I am in favor of making daylight saving time a permanent solution for South Carolina."
A number of states, including South Carolina, have also filed bills calling for Congress to authorize daylight saving time all the time.
