NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police are investigating a burglary at a business on Dorchester Road.

Courtney Scipio owns an event-planning business which is called, “Inspired by Annette." She says someone broke into her office location on Wednesday and stole a speaker system and two light displays.

Surveillance footage shows a man picking up a brick and throwing it through the front door of the business, causing it to shatter. He is seen going inside the location and leaving with several items.

Scipio says her security system never went off and she was not notified about the incident until the next morning.

She says one of her employees went to the location the following morning and saw the broken glass from the front door. That’s when she called Scipio’s husband and he called the police.

“When the suspect came in our office location, the alarm did not got off at all,” said Scipio. "But when the officer step foot in the broken door the alarm went off, so that’s what we’re trying to figure out.”

The business has only been open for about a year and Scipio says this is the first time anyone has tried breaking in.

Now she hopes that the person will be found and the vital items will be returned.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the North Charleston Police Department at 843-740-2800.
