U.S. Highway 178 will be closing for new water line installments, Dorchester County officials say.

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester County officials announced the closing of U.S. Highway 178 in Harleyville Friday into Saturday so crews can install a new water line.

Southern Contracting will be closing U.S. Highway 178 between 1st Bend Road and Alma Street in Harleyville starting at 7 a.m. on May 16.

Dorchester County officials say the road closure is necessary to install a new waterline for the Dorchester Reach, a 10.7 mile distribution line from Harleyville to Ridgeville, which is part of the Lake Marion Regional Water System.

The highway will re-open on May 17 at 7 p.m.
