Police seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted for sending fake checks to a dealership

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted for sending fake checks to car dealership.

Kenneth Irvin Wright is wanted for obtaining goods by false pretenses after sending six checks to a dealership totaling $12,912.78.

In August 2018, officers responded to the Fred Anderson Toyota Dealership located on the 2100 block of Savannah Highway in reference to fraud. When officers arrived at the scene, the general manager told them six checks were sent to the dealership signed and deposited into a bank account belonging to Wright at a USAA Bank.

The police report states the following checks were deposited:

  • Check 1- $3,3250.00
  • Check 2- $2,274.07
  • Check 3-$7,019.28
  • Check 4-$24.51
  • Check 5-$229.92
  • Check 6-$115.00

Officers say the manager is unaware of how the checks were taken or if they were taken from the mailbox or from the accounting office.
