CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Carnival is set to switch out its ship which calls the Port of Charleston home this weekend.

The Ecstasy left port on Wednesday and is being repositioned to Jacksonville, Fla. while the Carnival Sunshine will now use the Charleston based route starting on Saturday.

The Sunshine will operate on a schedule which includes four and five-day sailings to the Bahamas as well as six and seven-day trips to Bermuda and the Caribbean. The first-ever cruises from Charleston to Havana are also scheduled for late 2019.

The ship has multiple restaurants and features such as a ropes course and water slides. There are nearly 500 balcony staterooms and more than 50 suites.

Carnival launched Charleston’s first year-round cruise program in 2010.
