Sheriff’s Office host memorial service to honor fallen officers
The Lowcountry Chapter of the Soutth Carolina Police Wives Association along with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office hosted a memorial service in association with National Police Week.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - More than 160 lanterns drifted through the Lowcountry Friday night, honoring officers killed in the line of duty.

The Lowcountry Chapter of the South Carolina Police Wives Association along with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office hosted a memorial service in association with National Police Week.

The memorial service included a Lantern Lift honoring the 163 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in the past year in the United States.

An additional 27 lanterns were lit in memorial for K9 officers.
