Railroad crossing to close this week in N. Charleston near Aviation Ave

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A railroad crossing is set to close this week in North Charleston for an extended period of time.

Norfolk Southern will close the Taylor Street crossing for seven days, according to city officials.

Back in January, North Charleston mayor Keith Summey took issue with the company in a video because Norfolk Southern hadn’t given enough advanced notice about previous railroad crossing closures on busy roads like Ashley Phosphate.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation says it does not have the authority to fix the crossings, it’s up to the railway company.
