SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After collecting a trio of multi-hit games, The Citadel senior Ben Peden was selected as the Southern Conference Player of the Week Sunday afternoon.

The first baseman went 8-for-14 (.571) with three doubles, four walks, two RBIs and three runs scored as the Bulldogs went 2-2 on the week.

Peden opened the week by going 2-for-3 with a RBI and two walks in a midweek game against the College of Charleston.

In the final weekend of the regular season at Western Carolina, Peden collected six hits in leading the Bulldogs to their first road series win of the season. After collecting a hit and scoring a run in the series opener, Peden had two doubles in a 3-for-4 effort. He followed it up by going 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

The Bulldogs will open up Southern Conference Tournament action Tuesday morning against Western Carolina. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. at Fluor Field in Greenville.
