HOLLYWOOD, S.C. (WCSC) - Crews responded to a fire at an abandoned grocery store in Hollywood early Friday morning.

It happened in the 4500 block of Highway 162 where firefighters responded around 4:05 a.m.

The road was closed in both directions for nearly two hours while crews worked the scene. Fire Chief Larry Garvin said the building once housed a grocery store.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the building was on fire and the roof had already caved in. According to Garvin, a door on the backside of the building was also open and officials are working to find out why.
