YORK COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) - Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 77.
The crash happened Monday afternoon on Northbound I-77 in Rock Hill. South Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 12:27 p.m.
Troopers say a car was stopped in the second lane from the left when a pickup, travelling north, rear-ended the car.
The teen killed in the accident was identified as 17-year-old Quinyah McCoy from North Charleston, according to the York County Coroner’s Office. Officials say McCoy was in the back seat of the car and died at the scene.
The driver was injured and airlifted to the hospital where they later died from their injuries. The driver was identified as 18-year-old Soloman Adams, also from Charleston.
Two other passengers in the car were injured. One was airlifted to the hospital and the other transported by emergency medical officials.
The driver of the pickup truck was injured and taken to the hospital by emergency medical officials. The pickup truck driver was wearing a seat belt.
Investigators have not said if any charges were filed and no further information has been released.
