GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Georgetown County deputies arrested a 50-year-old man Wednesday afternoon in connection with a shooting in the Sampit community.
David Britton, Jr. is charged with attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during a violent crime and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to Georgetown County Sheriff’s spokesman Jason Leslie.
The Horry-Georgetown Drug Enforcement Unit filed an additional unrelated charge of distribution of marijuana after Britton was in custody, Leslie said.
The shooting took place Wednesday morning near Columbus Road and Bertie Lane.
One man was injured in the incident. EMS took the victim to the hospital but there was no word on his injuries.
Britton was being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
