MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - A new traffic signal will soon be operational in Mount Pleasant, but for now its operating in flash mode.

The light located at the intersection of Ben Sawyer Boulevard and Center Street began to flash on Thursday. Pending observations, it will then begin full operations on July 16 at 10 a.m.

The Ben Sawyer approaches will flash yellow while the Center Street approaches flash red, so those drivers must come to a complete stop.

Drivers in the area headed toward and away from Sullivan’s Island are urged to use caution while people get used to the new traffic pattern.
