CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Owners of convenience stores in Walterboro are on alert after two armed robberies that happened two days apart.

Police say an armed bandit held up at the EnMarket on Bells Highway Monday night.

The Citgo on North Jeffries Boulevard was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday morning.

In each incident the robber got away with cash and ran away on foot. Cops are not ruling out the possibility that it was the same gunman at both stores.

Convenience store owners in the city are taking notice. Nick Patel has been fortunate. His store has never been robbed.

"I close early yeah, for safety, my and employees' safety yeah," Patel said Thursday.

Patel says he also keeps his eyes on all customers.

"Every time people come in I watch, with people, new one, old one and a group of people come in I watch," he said.

Fortunately no one was hurt in either of this week’s robberies.

Anyone with information should call Walterboro police at 843-782-1045.
