Church fire in Williamsburg Co. under control, authorities say

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Firefighters have brought a church fire in Williamsburg County under control after it burned on Tuesday morning.

Crews arrived on scene around 4:30 a.m. to the Old Bethlehem Baptist church fully engulfed in flames on Old Gapway Road near Highway 52.

The roof of the church also collapsed, but nobody was injured. Photos from the aftermath show roughly half of the brick structure collapsed in the fire.

According to William Horton with the Williamsburg County fire department, there is no word on a cause as of yet. Crews remain on scene investigating.
