JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - Investigators say a man who was found dead on James Island appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound.
Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office say the investigation began just after 2:30 p.m. on Friday when deputies responded to a report of a deceased person near Jeffery Road.
According to a report, a citizen located the deceased male near a wooded area at the end of Jeffery Road.
“The wooded area is commonly used as a pedestrian path that connects the surrounding neighborhoods,” CCSO officials said."The victim suffered from what appeared to be a gunshot wound."
Detectives, forensic investigators and the coroner’s office responded to the scene.
“The decedent’s cause of death and identity will be released by the Coroner’s Office,” the sheriff’s office said.
