GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) - Goose Creek’s police chief says the family of a man wanted for a Monday morning shooting convinced him to turn himself in to authorities Monday night.
Jamal Baylock surrendered to Goose Creek Police Chief L.J. Roscoe at 6:33 p.m. Roscoe said his family saw a media release stating Baylock was wanted in connection with a shooting at 8:23 a.m. at the Waters of St. James Apartments on Emma Meredith Circle.
The shooting left one man wounded in the arm, police said. The victim told police he was shot by Jamal Baylock who left the scene in a grey Dodge Charger, according to Goose Creek Police Capt. Tom Hill.
Baylock’s family asked a family friend to contact Roscoe, who was then able to contact Baylock’s mother, she said. She convinced the family that it was in his best interest to turn himself in.
Baylock was arrested on a charge of attempted murder, Roscoe said.
