NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A man was shot in the leg late Thursday night in North Charleston.

Police department spokeswoman Karley Ash said an officer was on a traffic stop at Northside Drive and Ashley Phosphate when a man pulled up and stated he was shot in the leg.

The man told the officer that while he was stopped at the red light at Ashley Phosphate and Palmetto Commerce, another car pulled alongside and began shooting.

According to the report, the car the victim was driving had two bullet holes in its front driver side door, one bullet hole to its front fender and a busted out driver side window.

The victim told officers that a small burgundy SUV was behind him on Cross County Road when he approached Ashley Phosphate and that when he approached Palmetto Commerce, a female in the SUV started shooting at him.

Police are still investigating.
