Coroner: Body found in Dorchester Co. woods is victim of apparent homicide
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The coroner’s office says a body found in the woods in Dorchester County is the victim of an apparent homicide.
Coroner Paul J. Brouthers said 63-year-old Karen Yarborough of Summerville was discovered near a wooded area on Tuesday in Dorchester County.
According to authorities, Yarborough had been reported missing.
“The body will undergo an autopsy, scheduled for Thursday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina,” Brouthers said.
The Summerville Police Department, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, and Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
Officials with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s office said the body was found near Beidler Forest.
The investigation began when authorities received a report of a body being found along Harrison Road.
“At this time it is being investigated as a suspicious death,” DCSO officials said earlier on Tuesday. “Detectives and Crime Scene investigators are currently on scene.”
