CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Authorities have identified a man who was killed in a house fire in Ravenel Tuesday night.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office said 71-year-old Harold Jenkins from Ravenel died as a result of injuries sustained in the house fire which happened at 10:54 p.m. on the 4900 block of Doctor Taylor Road.

“Mr. Jenkins was pronounced dead on scene,” said Deputy Coroner Brittney Martin.

Investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said foul play is not suspected in the fire.

Firefighters responded to the scene just before 11 p.m. for a report of someone possibly inside a single-wide trailer.

A man was then found dead inside the house after the flames were extinguished.

“Detectives and forensic investigators are investigating the incident,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Roger Antonio said. “Detectives are working with fire personnel to determine the cause and origin of the fire.”
