MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - Mount Pleasant Police are investigating after someone opened fire on a home with a family inside early Friday morning.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of Josephine Road for shots that were fired into house just after 4 a.m.

The homeowners were too frightened to be on camera but agreed to share their story.

They say the family was asleep when the shots were fired.

“First I thought it was like because my television used to be on at nighttime. So I thought maybe it was from the TV. It was like big loud, boom, boom, boom. There was like seven, eight shots altogether," the female homeowner said.

The couple says they jumped up and ran to make sure the other family members were okay.

″I was just praying man to make sure that she was okay and our kids was okay. That’s the main thing," the male homeowner said.

When they got up, they saw the damage.

There were bullet holes in the front of the house, including the door and windows.

There were bullet holes in the kitchen and even more in the living room.

The female homeowner says she has a bad case of heartburn and usually sits in a chair next to the bed.

There’s a bullet hole right above the chair.

The woman says if she had been sitting in it when the shots were fired she probably would have been killed.

“See how close that bullet from the wall? You know how close that is to my head?” she said.

The couple says they have no enemies and have no idea why their house was targeted.

They believe they are alive because of their strong faith.

“Thank God nobody got hurt and nobody behind us got hurt," the male homeowner said.

“But I thank God for Jesus, yes sir," his wife said.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call Mt. Pleasant Police at 843 884 4176.
