JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County coroner has identified the man killed in a hit-and-run crash on Johns Island Friday night.

Aidin Goodrich, 18, was driving his moped around 10:45 p.m. on Betsy Kerrison Parkway near River Road when another vehicle hit him and drove away.

Deputies then arrested 54-year-old Benn Franklin Johnson Jr. of Johns Island. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

Deputies say Johnson left before deputies arrived to the scene of the crash.

On Saturday morning, a judge denied bond for Johnson. During court, the judge said Johnson has prior charges for leaving the scene after injury and DUI.

Johnson’s family and the victim’s family appeared in bond court.
