CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel junior quarterback Brandon Rainey was one of 34 players named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) midseason watch list for the National Performer of the Year Trophy, it was announced Tuesday.

The award winner will be announced on January 15, 2020.

Rainey has set a single-season school record for touchdowns accounted for with 26. Through nine games, Rainey has carried the ball 195 times for 758 yards and 16 touchdowns. His 16 touchdowns are tied for second in the FCS.

Through the air, Rainey has going 46-of-79 for 842 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is just the second quarterback in program history to rush for and throw for at least 10 touchdowns in a season.

Rainey has rushed for a touchdown and thrown for another in seven of the nine games in which he played. He has rushed for three touchdowns in a trio of games, while also accounting for five touchdowns in two contests. Rainey rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more against Samford, while coming back to rush for a pair of scores and throw for three more against Western Carolina.
