Bulldogs Announce Early Signing Class

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel head football coach Brent Thompson announced the signing of nine future cadet-athletes who will attend The Citadel and begin playing football for the Bulldogs in the fall of 2020.

The list includes two defensive backs, two offensive linemen, one defensive lineman, one linebacker, one kicker, one punter and one quarterback.

Three of the incoming recruits are from South Carolina, while three are from Florida, two from North Carolina and one from Virginia.

Played for head coach Mark Holcomb at Oak Grove High School…posted 42 tackles and six interceptions in helping the Grizzlies to a 10-2 record as a senior…averaged 26.3 yards per kickoff return and 16.3 yards per punt return…picked off a pair of passes in earning all-conference and all-county honors as a junior…also earned all-conference honors in basketball as a junior.

Ethan Goyette, OL, 6-3, 235, Stafford, Virginia (Mountain View)

Played for head coach Lou Sorrentino at Mountain View High School...helped the Wildcats to a 10-3 record and a spot in the regional final.

Carson Hatchett, DL, 6-3, 260, Blountstown, Florida (Blountstown)

Played for head coach Beau Johnson at Blountstown High School…helped the Tigers to a 13-1 record and a berth in the state championship game…finished senior season with 78 tackles, 12.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks…selected to play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association North-South All-Star Game…posted 41 tackles and 3.5 sacks as a junior.

Wilson Hendricks, DB, 6-1, 200, Travelers Rest South Carolina (Travelers Rest)

Played for head coach Ray Gould at Travelers Rest High School…earned all-region and team MVP honors as a junior and senior…also a three-time team captain…helped the Devildogs to an 8-3 record as a senior, the school’s best in 50 years…finished career with 212 tackles, 130 solo, nine interceptions, nine forced fumbles, 17 tackles-for-loss and 36 pass break-ups…accumulated 5,028 yards of offense and scored 65 touchdowns…holds single game, season and career rushing and passing yards records…school-record holder for single game, season and career completions and touchdowns

Colby Kintner, K, 6-2, 210, Anderson, South Carolina (Olympia)

Played for head coach Kyle Hayes at Olympia High School…earned all-metro honors as a punter as a senior after earning all-metro honors as a kicker as a junior…went 7-of-9 on field goals, with a long of 47, as a senior…connected on 6-of-8 field goals, including a long of 49 as a junior…hit on 39-of-44 extra points over final two years…AP Scholar with honors.

Andrew Lewis, OLB, 6-5, 195, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida (Ponte Vedra)

Played for head coach Jeff DiSandro at Ponte Vedra High School…posted 15 tackles, 2.0 sacks and 3.0 tackles-for-loss in eight games as a senior…added a blocked punt…also caught two passes for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Cameron Moewe, OL, 6-4, 250, Jacksonville, Florida (Bishop Kenny)

Played for head coach Tim Krause at Bishop Kenny High School…allowed just one sack over final two years as a starter…named defensive player of the year as a freshman…member of the A&B Honor Roll as a freshman and sophomore.

Ben Steele, P, 5-8, 155, Wake Forest, North Carolina (Heritage)

Played for head coach Wallace Clark at Heritage High School…named the special teams player of the year as a junior and senior…named the athlete of the month for August during junior season…had 21 punts downed inside the 20-yard line as a senior…went 116-of-128 in extra points during career…kicked career-long 42-yard field goal as a junior.

Graeson Underwood, QB, 6-0, 225, Irmo, South Carolina (Dutch Fork)

Played for head coach Tom Knotts at Dutch Fork High School…missed senior season with injury...part of four-straight state championships with the Silver Foxes…finished career by throwing for 1,295 yards and 11 touchdowns, while also rushing for 775 yards and 12 scores.
