GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Investigators have charged a juvenile for a fire at a church in Georgetown County.
Officials with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed that a juvenile has been charged with arson for the fire which took place at the Spirit Filled Ambassadors for Christ Ministry Church in Andrews.
Pastor Deshawn Rouse said that a 15-year-old confessed to setting fires inside the building, and that the teen was arrested Monday afternoon in Andrews.
The teenager is expected to be charged with arson.
SLED spokesman Tommy Crosby said the investigation is continuing.
In addition to SLED, the FBI was called in to investigate the fire.
Rouse said multiple fires were set to the church’s executive center. Rouse was told that, because the fire was at a church, it falls under a federal hate crime.
