Downtown street reopens after utility pole replaced

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Charleston Police say a portion of Rutledge Avenue closed early Friday morning is open again.

Police said a crash damaged a utility pole in the area, forcing the closure of Rutledge Avenue between Sunnyside Avenue and Mount Pleasant Street while utility crews replaced the pole.

The roadway reopened shortly before 10 a.m., approximately three hours after it was blocked off.
