Coroner identifies man killed in Mount Pleasant shooting

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who was killed in a fatal shooting in Mount Pleasant early Tuesday morning.

Authorities say 26-year-old Thomas Hovermale from Mount Pleasant died.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said Hovermale died on Tuesday shortly after midnight on the 1700 block of Rivertowne Country Club Drive from a gunshot wound. 

Mount Pleasant police have charged Ethan Gotter, who was Hovermale’s roommate, with involuntary manslaughter.

Police responded at 12:20 a.m. to the scene of the shooting.
