Deputies: Man shot while trying to steal catalytic converter at car dealership

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Berkeley County deputies say the attempted theft of a catalytic converter led to an early-morning shooting.

Chief Deputy Jeremy Baker said the owner of PA Auto Sales in the 1400 block of US-52 West fired at a man, identified as Daniel Wesley Springs attempting to steal the part.

Springs was wounded in the leg but is expected to recover, Baker said.

Springs faces three counts of larceny, one count of possession of heroin, and three counts of malicious injury to personal property.
