CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A proposed senior healthcare community called Spring Street Health Center is planned for Spring Street downtown, a public notice states.

Proposals show the health center as being on one acre of land where Spring Street intersects with the Crosstown.

Spring Street Health Center plans show it would provide a 23-bed skilled nursing home with beds that are open to the public.

The owner also wants to have assisted living adult care beds and offer a memory care unit.

According to the notice, the nursing home component would include 14,233 square feet of new construction, but it’s unclear if an existing house on-site will be redeveloped or demolished.

The construction of the nursing home is estimated to cost $7,703,284, the public notice stated.

The public notice was shared on the South Carolina Press Association website and the business owners for the Spring Street Health Center intend to file an application for a certificate of construction within about the next 20 days with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
