CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center plans to distribute pre-packaged Thanksgiving dinner meal kits to Veterans in need on Saturday.
The facility’s nutrition and food service chief, Margaret Bradbury, says the event is important because families are struggling.
“We are so grateful for everything our Veterans have sacrificed for us," Bradbury says. "This is one small way to show our gratitude during the holiday season and give our Veterans an opportunity to have all the items they need to cook a Thanksgiving meal for family or friends.”
The medical center will host the giveaway between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot behind the medical center at 109 Bee St. in downtown Charleston.
Veterans must also bring a VA or Military ID with them for pick-up.
Charleston VAMC is able to host this event through generous donations from Project Street Outreach, Lowes, North Palm Church, Tri County Veterans Support Network, Favor Foundation and Barbering Plus.
