HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A suspect is in custody after an alleged sword attack at a home in Longs.

Lawrence Tiggett, 67, of Fayetteville, Ga., is charged with second-degree assault and battery.

According to a report from Horry County police, officers responded to a home on Highway 90 Monday for a stabbing call.

When they arrived at the scene, authorities reportedly found the victim outside the residence with a bloody towel wrapped around his hand.

The victim said Tiggett, who also lives at the home, attacked him with a sword, according to the report.

In addition to the injury to his hand, the victim also had minor cuts to the right side of the face and near his lower right eyelid, police said.

According to authorities, blood was found on the walls and floor in the home’s living room.

Both the victim and Tiggett reported they were in an argument before the assault occurred, police said.

Tiggett was arrested at the scene and taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

As of Tuesday morning, he remains in jail on $2,500 bond.
