CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - With Black Friday sales starting earlier this year and most consumers planning to shop online rather than in-store, a new WalletHub study ranks the best places to shop for deals.
The study comes from a full report of 2020′s Best Places to Shop on Black Friday.
WalletHub says they made the list based off of a survey of nearly 7,000 deals from 26 of the biggest retailers in the country.
The study says JCPenney ranked number one with the highest overall discount rate of 56.71%.
Ace Hardware ranked the lowest with an overall discount rate of 8.63%.
The overall average discount for this year’s Black Friday is 32%. WalletHub says customers should aim for this discount amount or higher to avoid possible Black Friday traps.

- Kohl’s (51.87%)
- Belk (50.01%)
- Lenovo (44.06%)
- Nordstrom (39.05%)
- GameStop (38.81%)
- Office Depot and OfficeMax (33.29%)
- The Home Depot (32.07%)
- Meijer (32.02%)
WalletHub says the “Computers & Phones” category has one of the most amounts of discounted items, accounting for 15% of all offers.
The “Books, Movies, & Music” category is the least at 2.74%, the study finds.
