Road closed, tree takes down power lines in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - The Awendaw-McClellanville Fire District says crews responded to the scene of a road closure in Mount Pleasant where a tree and power lines were down.

They say it happened at the 1200 block of Hamlin Road.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department says the road was closed in both directions between Highway 17 and Rifle Range Road.

Dominion Energy says the tree fell and took down the power lines.

Paul Fischer with Dominion Energy says about 19 customers were impacted by the power outage. He says power was restored at approximately 10 a.m. for a majority of customers.

He says crews will remain at the scene to make final repairs.
