CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Agents from the S.C. Law Enforcement Division are investigating an incident in which a man was shot and wounded during a confrontation with an officer from the Hanahan Police Department Saturday following a police pursuit.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. No other injuries are being reported.

The incident in Berkeley County was the 47th officer-involved shooting in South Carolina in 2020, according to SLED, and the first this year involving the Hanahan Police Department.
