Crews put out early morning fire in Mount Pleasant towing lot
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - The Mount Pleasant Fire Department says crews put out a first in a towing lot in Mount Pleasant early Sunday morning.
The Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch says the call came in around 1:52 a.m. Sunday morning.
They say Mount Pleasant Police and the Mount Pleasant Fire Department responded to the scene.
Captain Matthew Tidwell with the Mount Pleasant Fire Department says the fire happened at Safari Towing’s car lot at 474 Shipping Lane.
That’s near Long Point Road.
Captain Tidwell says when crews arrived, they cut the chain of the gate and found between 20 to 30 cars on fire.
He says the fire was controlled within an hour and the scene was cleared around 6 a.m.
Fire officials say it was an outside fire only and no buildings were damaged.
They also say no one was injured from the fire.
Captain Tidwell says one firefighter went to the hospital for hurting his shoulder and has been released from the hospital’s care.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
