COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - South Carolina Highway Patrol says one person has died after crashing into the back of a parked fire truck in Colleton County.

Troopers say a Nissan Altima was traveling north on I-95 around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, when it struck the back of a parked fire truck.

They say the fire truck was partly in the fast lane with all of its equipment on, assisting another vehicle that was in the median.

Highway Patrol says the driver of the Nissan Altima was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was no one in the fire truck at the time of the collision, troopers report.

Highway patrol says to contact The Colleton County Coroner’s Office for more information on the victim.

This collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, troopers say.
