CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Charleston officials say a new large apartment complex could soon be coming to downtown.
Developers say they are looking to build the new complex at the intersection of Romney Street and North Nassau Street. Plans show they are proposing to build four, eight-story apartment buildings.
The proposed building site is on a vacant lot of land behind Revelry Brewery and the Charleston Tech Center at 55 Romney Street.
The City of Charleston’s Planning Commission reviewed plans to build one, eight-story apartment building back in 2019, but developers say they are looking to build even more.
Based on the documents submitted to HUD, the four apartment buildings will have 304 residential units and more than 7,500 square feet of commercial space.
The plans are being reviewed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, but they say those who would like to give their input can do so by leaving a public comment before Thursday.
To submit a public comment HUD says people must email Virgil.D.Tetsworth@hud.gov before Jan. 7.
