DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who broke into a home and died of a gunshot wound Friday afternoon.

The coroner’s office identified him as Damian B. Harrison, 32, of Summerville.

They say his body will undergo an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina on Tuesday.

The incident happened at approximately 3:17 p.m. in the 100 block of Beret Street just off Ashley Phosphate Road, Lt. Rick Carson said.

Dorchester County Deputies say a 911 caller told dispatchers a man entered his home. A short time later, first responders arrived on the scene and were told the man died from a single gunshot wound.

Detectives and crime scene investigators were conducting interviews at the scene, Carson said.

North Charleston Fire and Dorchester County EMS also responded to the scene.
