State correctional officers begin to receive COVID-19 vaccine
In a tweet released Thursday, the department said that not only medical workers, but mental professionals and officers would be receiving their first doses of the vaccine.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Corrections says many of their employees have begun to receive their COVID-19 vaccines.

In a tweet released Thursday, the department said that not only medical workers, but mental professionals and officers would be receiving their first doses of the vaccine.

“Persons providing medical care in correctional facilities and correctional officers” are explicitly outlined by the Department of Health and Environmental Control as being in vaccine distribution Phase 1a.

The tweet states the corrections department employees are receiving their vaccines from Prisma Health.
